Fair Haven Reveals Plan for a Fresh Face
“Fair Haven has played a vital role in the Birmingham community for decades,” says Tom Kent, Executive Director. “This change is the next step in our continued progression through the years.”
The name change will drop the term ‘retirement community,’ leaving it simply as Fair Haven.
“Most people know us as a retirement community, but we’d really like to be known for much more than that,” says Christopher Tomlin, President and CEO of Methodist Homes of Alabama & Northwest Florida. “We also want to be known for the role our organization plays in the greater community.”
Our new logo features a beautiful magnolia, a symbol of southern hospitality. The selection of the magnolia flower speaks to our deep roots and enduring traditions. The magnolia also subtly represents vitality, growth and a supportive, nurturing environment.
“The magnolia blossom, which is very prominent in Birmingham culture, is a warm and welcoming symbol that makes one feel as if surrounded by southern hospitality,” adds Tomlin.
The new name and logo will begin to roll out during the month of October, so keep your eyes open for our bright, welcoming magnolia.
The new name and logo are just two of the many updates we’ve been working on this past year. We are also in the middle of a $42.4 million expansion and renovation that will add a new rehabilitation center, assisted living center, additional independent living apartment homes, and a new skilled nursing building.
The new skilled nursing and rehab suites, as well as the new assisted living center are expected be completed in January 2017, and the newly renovated independent living and assisted living apartments will open in the fall of 2017.
With the expansion, we will also introduce a new model of care this fall known as the Household Model, a model that follows a philosophy of resident-directed care, which, at its core, honors the preferences of the resident.
