Fair Haven, a retirement community located in Birmingham, Alabama, recently revealed their brand new assisted living residences. In addition to updating the look and feel of the community, the new building represents a switch to the Household Model of care, which emphasizes person-centered care, providing residents with private apartments as well as shared living spaces, such as the kitchen and dining room. Residents moved into the new space recently, and had a lot to say about the changes!
“I love it – it’s beautiful, clean and nice! I just love it,” exclaimed Betty Howard, a Fair Haven resident for nearly three years.
Joyce Giles, a resident for two years, also appreciated the new assisted living. One of her favorite parts? The new kitchen.
“It’s just very beautiful,” said Joyce, who chose Fair Haven because her son works at the community. “It’s very commodious, with all that’s provided.”
Betty was very familiar with Fair Haven before she made the decision to move here. Her aunt was a resident at Fair Haven for 13 years, and she’s known others who lived here as well, and when it came time to find the right place for her, she looked around a bit before choosing Fair Haven.
“I had gone to several places, and I wasn’t satisfied with the ones I went to, so I came here,” she said.
The updated décor, the food, the care provided – all of this adds up to a community that Betty is excited to be a part of. In fact, she frequently recommends moving to Fair Haven to her friends, and as Betty says, “I’ve already brought two over here!”
Fair Haven’s new building, coupled with the transition to the revolutionary Household Model of care, make it a great place to call home.
